Three fish that can be caught off the coast of Florida

Florida is a true paradise for fishermen and fish lovers. Some species found here are unique and can’t be found anywhere else on the planet. This is just one of the things that makes Florida and the Florida waters so unique. These are three fish that can be caught off the coast of Florida:

  • Barracuda. This is a fish that is known for its speed and great abilities. Very often this fish will jump out of the water next to the boats and  appear to race them. The average fish is about 20 pounds, but it can reach 40 pounds or more. Even though it can be caught all year around, fishermen usually search for it from May to October when they are the most active and easy to catch.
  • Blackfin Tuna. This species of tuna can be found during the fall and spring months. It is an excellent eating fish. It is usually caught using big nests as this fish usually swims in large groups. It is usually around 20 pounds, but sometimes it can reach 30 pounds or so. It is a very agressive and fast fish and this makes it a real challenge to catch.
  • Blacktip Shark. This shark weights an average of 50 pounds but can reach weights that exceed 100 pounds. Because it is so agressive, not many fishermen dare to catch it. At the same time, the law of Florida allows only one shark per boat. If a Blacktip Shark is caught, it will do everything possible to escape, including spinning and thrashing once onboard the boat, which can be dangerous for the fishermen.
